Biostimulators

Biostimulators are actives chosen to prompt the skin into doing its own repair work: rebuilding rather than resurfacing. They go in either through the micro-channels microneedling creates or by electroporation, which uses a brief electrical pulse to open a path through the cell membrane. Both get the active past the surface, where a cream would stop. Neither involves an injection. I use them where skin has genuinely thinned or lost density — around the eyes, across areas that have lost firmness, and on the scalp.

The appointment 4 stages
  1. 01

    Skin analysis

Which active suits you depends on what the skin is short of. This is not a treatment I would sell you without looking first.

  2. 02

    Numbing

A topical anaesthetic goes on for around 20 minutes, as with microneedling.

  3. 03

    Delivery

The active is worked in through micro-channels, with depth set conservatively around the eyes and scalp.

  4. 04

    Aftercare

The first 72 hours matter most: nothing active, no exfoliation, SPF without fail.

Questions

Biostimulators, honestly

Is this an injection?
No. The actives go in either through the micro-channels microneedling creates or by electroporation, which opens a temporary path through the cell membrane with a brief electrical pulse. Nothing is injected.
How many sessions will I need?
Usually a series of three to four, spaced around four weeks apart, then a top-up a couple of times a year. Density is slow to rebuild — anyone promising it in one session is selling something.
How much downtime is there?
Expect redness for 24 to 48 hours, similar to microneedling but usually milder because the depth is more conservative. Around the eyes you may see slight puffiness on the first day.
Does scalp treatment work for thinning hair?
It works on the condition of the scalp itself, which is the ground the hair grows from. What it will not do is bring back follicles that have already gone, and if there is a medical cause behind the thinning you should see a doctor first — I will tell you if I think that is what is going on.
Can I combine it with microneedling?
Often they are the same appointment — microneedling is one of the two ways the active gets in. The difference is which active we choose, and that is decided after looking at your skin.
