High-Tech Treatments

Some things skin needs cannot be done by hand. Radiofrequency heats the deeper layers to tighten what has loosened. Cryotherapy does the opposite — cold to calm inflammation and firm the surface. Microcurrent and EMS work on the muscle underneath rather than the skin on top. Which of them you need depends entirely on whether we are treating laxity, inflammation or tone, and that is decided by looking at your skin rather than by which machine is fashionable.

The appointment 4 stages
  1. 01

    Skin analysis

Laxity, inflammation and loss of tone look similar in the mirror and need completely different machines. This is the step that decides.

  2. 02

    Prep

Skin is cleansed and a conductive medium applied where the device needs one.

  3. 03

    Treatment

Worked section by section, with the intensity set to what your skin will take rather than the maximum the machine will do.

  4. 04

    Finish

Serum, sometimes LED to settle the skin, and SPF.

Questions

High-Tech Treatments, honestly

What is the difference between RF and microneedling RF?
Plain radiofrequency heats the deeper layers through the surface of the skin. Microneedling RF delivers that heat through micro-channels, so it reaches further down and does more for scarring and texture — at the cost of the downtime that microneedling brings.
What does it feel like?
Radiofrequency feels like a warm massage, and it should never be more than comfortably hot. Cryotherapy is cold and bracing. Microcurrent and EMS you mostly do not feel at all, beyond an occasional twitch.
Is there downtime?
None for RF, cryotherapy, microcurrent or EMS — you may look flushed for an hour. Microneedling RF is the exception and follows the same recovery as microneedling.
How many sessions before I see something?
Tightening is cumulative: a course of six or so, spaced a week or two apart, then maintenance. Anyone selling you a single session for lasting tightening is overselling it.
Can I add this to a facial?
Yes, and that is how it is most often used. Added to another treatment it is $75 rather than the standalone price.
