Peels & Cavitation

Everything on this page does the same job by different means: clearing the dead surface layer so the skin underneath behaves. A peel does it chemically — I use BioRePeel, PRX-T33 and BHA peels depending on whether we are treating congestion, tone or texture. Cavitation does it with ultrasonic vibration and water, no acid at all, which makes it the option for skin too reactive for a peel. It also leaves the skin far more able to absorb whatever goes on next, so it often opens another treatment rather than standing alone.

The appointment 4 stages
  1. 01

    Skin analysis

Whether you are having acid or ultrasound, and at what strength, is decided here rather than at booking.

  2. 02

    Prep

Skin is cleansed and, for a peel, degreased so the acid works evenly.

  3. 03

    Exfoliate

The peel is timed and neutralised, or the cavitation is worked section by section.

  4. 04

    Calm and protect

Serum, sometimes a mask, always SPF. Freshly exfoliated skin burns easily.

Questions

Peels & Cavitation, honestly

Will my skin actually peel?
It depends which one. Cavitation causes no peeling at all. A regular peel may give you light flaking around day three. BioRePeel and PRX-T33 are designed to work without heavy shedding, which is why I use them on people who cannot take visible downtime.
Which should I have, a peel or cavitation?
Cavitation if your skin is reactive, if you are pregnant, or if you simply cannot risk any flaking. A peel if we are treating pigmentation, established congestion or texture, because acids reach deeper than ultrasound does.
How often can I have one?
Cavitation every four weeks or so. Peels depend entirely on strength — a light peel can be monthly, stronger ones want longer between them. We plan the spacing at the first appointment.
Do I need to stop my retinol first?
Yes — pause retinol and any acids for about five days beforehand. Exfoliating skin that is already stripped is how people end up with a compromised barrier.
